Rug Care

Pre-Shipping Care

All of our rugs have gone through a process of cleansing and vacuuming prior to shipment. The wool in our rugs is a natural fiber that comes from sheep that live outdoors, making them strong, durable and resilient enough to last a lifetime with basic care.

Is it normal for my rug to have an odor?

Moroccan wool rugs can have a distinct smell to them, especially if they’ve been rolled up for a while and have not had a chance to air out. This smell is harmless, non-toxic and should subside after a few weeks of being able to breathe in an open space. Letting your rug soak under the sun for a few days will help the odor dissipate quicker.

My rug won’t stop shedding. What should I do?

Shedding occurs when fibers of a rug become loosened or come off. Rest assured, wool rugs tend to have a reputation for shedding, especially if they are new, plush and high piled (constructed with longer yarns). Vacuuming the rug regularly will help subside the shedding. Make sure to use a vacuum cleaner with the beater bar removed to circumvent fiber tugging and rug abrasion.

How can I safely remove a small stain from the rug?

Accidents happen. Whether it’s an accident from a pet or a drink was spilled, it is important to absorb as much  of it as possible, as quickly as possible. Wool is highly absorbable to liquid and moisture, so the quicker you can get to the accident, the better. After the towel has absorbed as much of the stain as possible, dilute the stain with warm water then blot. Then combine a solution of wool safe detergent with warm water and a little white vinegar and blot until dry. If spot cleaning isn’t working, consult a professional rug cleaner who has experience cleaning these types of rugs.

How do I care for my rug long-term?

The most important  thing to do is to keep the fibers from weakening and degrading over time. You can do this by removing dirt and dust particles through vacuuming the front and the back of the rug. Cleaning up a stain as quickly as possible after it has occurred is also very important. Even if an accident has never occurred, it doesn’t hurt to take it to a professional cleaner or clean it yourself at home using cold water and wool safe detergent at least once a year. If you opt for the DIY at home method, make sure to hang dry the wool rug in the sun so it can dry properly. Moroccan rugs are crafted very uniquely, so if you do take it to get professionally cleaned, always make sure to ask your rug cleaner if they have experience cleaning these types of rugs.

Shipping

How long will it take to receive my purchase(s)?

All orders are processed and shipped from the island of Hawaii. Once an order is placed, the rug is dropped off at Hawaiian air cargo within 24 hours and goes to Maui to be thoroughly cleaned and treated so it’s in pristine condition when you receive it. This process takes approximately 7-14 business days, depending on the size of the rug. You will receive tracking once your
order has shipped so you can keep track of your order’s location.

Do you ship internationally?

At the moment, we currently ship anywhere in the United States as well as Canada. If you are located elsewhere, feel free to send us an email at info@inezthelabel.com and we will be more than happy to discuss other options we have available or send you a shipping quote.
